Looking at later (89-92) Corvettes, standard coupes and convertibles with low miles are available for $4000-$5000, and low mileage "King of the Road" ZR-1's, which were a big deal back in the day, in the low $20's. That is almost "buy one on a goof" money.

Seriously, how awful can they be?

Excellent question. I havent seen many raced recently but why not? Could be interesting. Not sure about the aftermarket but in sure it exists
